A few tender moments frozen in time to remind us that:

It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.

Amanda and Becky have faced tremendous hurdles over the past few years – yet have faced them with a faith and grace which should be an example to all of us.  They embody  Washington Irving’s words,”… in every true woman’s heart, [there is] a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark out of adversity.”

I think these pictures may just speak for themselves.  Lovely family, wonderful people and good friends – I’m very blessed to know them.

This past weekend WildHair Buddy and I loaded up our older kids and headed to her parents home in Louisiana to celebrate Mardi Gras.  A self-professed Yankee – I have to admit, I’ve never really “gotten” Mardi Gras – when I was younger we didn’t really celebrate it up north.   While I do recall watching the craziness down in NOLA on the news – it seemed so far away it was almost exotic.

WildHair Boy and I had such a great time.  I think the highpoint for him may have been the Beignet’s (which WildHair Buddy assured us she would make us again soon).  The kids danced, listened to music, caught beads, explored the woods where we stayed – we even managed to keep computer time down to a minimum.  Surely our experience was tame and family friendly – but fun and memorable all the same.

Cannot think of a better way to wrap up a lovely weekend then capturing this group of mothers and daughters (and of course one very handsome young man too).  I know you have a lot of proofs to look through ladies – these were some of my favorites.

Heather is my “pea buddy” – if any two were ever peas in a pod – its us!  She’s the friend I don’t have to actually say anything to for her to know what I’m thinking.  She totally “gets” me.   We routinely text each other the same thing at the same time – often one asking a question the other answers.  We both have a unusal love of queso – which leads us to the 3 days a week we meet at 5:45am on adjoining treadmills.  She’s the “other mother” to my boys – and they love her dearly.

There are so many things I admire about Heather – she has a kind heart and a calm and quiet soul.  I’ve learned great lessons from her that have helped me become a better woman, mother and wife.  I’m beyond thankful to have such a phenomenal person in my life!  Hope you had a fantastic birthday pea buddy – only best wishes for the year to come!
